Our ministry of music welcomes people to share their musical gifts and talents. We have special music in our worship services each Sunday. All singers and instrumentalists are invited to become part of a vital music ministry of McMannen Church.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir presents special music during the 11:00 am worship service (and special services such as Ash Wednesday) and practices Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm for ten months during the year, taking a break from the middle of June until the middle of August. During those two months soloists and small groups provide special music for the worship service. Contact our Music Director, John Benton at johnb@mcmannenumc.org to learn more about this ministry.
Adult Ensemble
The Adult Ensemble is an eight to ten voice Adult Ensemble convenes during the year to prepare music for special services during Advent and Lenten seasons, as well as singing occasionally in regular church services.
Boys of Summer
The Boys of Summer is a men's a cappella choir that sings for church and community functions around the Durham area. The group rehearses the classic hymns usually sung by these men. All men are invited to become a part of this group.
Sisters in Song
An all woman group, Sisters in Song sings for church and community functions also. The group usually rehearses every 2nd and 4th Sundays immediately after the 11:00 service.
Youth Choir
All junior and senior youth are invited to join the McMannen UMC Youth Choir. The group sings seasonally at “festive” occasions and upon invitation. The rehearsals are scheduled as needed on Sunday afternoons immediately following worship services. We begin rehearsal, eat lunch together and then continue rehearsing.
Praise Band
All age groups are welcome to the Praise Band. We play all kinds of music, but contemporary is a favorite. Practices are usually the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 4:30 pm.
